Ms. Gomez began her career as an auditor of companies that provided pharmaceutical products to the United States Department of Defense. She gained professional experience by being involved in all aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing and associated quality control systems. She believes that the main goal of those who work in the field of pharmaceutical quality assurance should be to provide affordable, high-quality pharmaceutical products that will enable people to effectively manage their health conditions.

Ms. Gomez excels in the area of compliance oversight and regulatory supervision of the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical products. She oversees the research and developmental activities of pharmacists and chemists, ensures the proper use of manufacturing practices in the internal research and development department per regulatory agency guidelines, and makes certain that appropriate quality systems are being implemented and that information and documentation that is submitted to regulatory agencies meets requirements.  She also assists managers and employees in the research, development and quality assurance departments and prepares for regulatory agency inspections. Ms. Gomez was instrumental in having the company transfer products from the United States to Puerto Rico and back again. She was previously was the first woman director of quality for a pharmaceutical company in Puerto Rico in 1974.

Throughout an illustrious career, Ms. Gomez has been able to make major contributions to the pharmaceutical industry. She pinpoints her greatest career achievement as her having the opportunity to actively participate in the start-up of Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc., one of today’s leaders in the generic pharmaceutical industry. She has fulfilled a number of roles over the years, including as an Internal Compliance Manager, Director of Quality Control, and Director of Production with Searle and Company, as a Vice President of Operations at Watson Laboratories, Inc., and as a Director of Quality Assurance at Winthrop Pharmaceuticals in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. Over the past three decades, she has garnered a reputation of distinction among her professional peers for her willingness to always listen to others’ points of view in an objective and open manner.
